What can be better than relaxing your tired body in our hot springs after a long hike?
Hiking through Leukerbad’s mountains gives you the opportunity to enjoy our terrific panorama and learn a great deal at the same time.
Over 200 kilometers of marked hiking trails are open from spring to fall. Many of these trails have impressed famous hikers over the years. The historic Gemmi-Pass has been crossed for many centuries, and remains a popular connection between Leukerbad and Kandersteg, following the steps of the first tourists in the area.
Smaller hikes, such as the ladders to the village of Albinen – also a historic route, or the Römerweg, one of the last remnants of the Romans times in the Wallis, are popular destinations. For enthusiasts who prefer challenging, high alpine hikes, the trails from the Lötschen-Valley across the Resti-Pass, from Crans-Montana across the Varner-Alp or the tour across the Wildstrubel are available.
There are also many trails following our hot springs. Two trails will lead you along the paths our hot springs flow, straight to their originating sources. On one trail, you will learn about Leukerbad’s gold. On the Kapellenweg, you will find many of our religious artifacts and chapels. The Glacier-Path in Lämmeren is a paradise for geologists and botanists. The Walliser Weinweg follows our wine history in the area, and the Kulturweg Dala-Raspille lets you learn about the various climate zones as well as our rich culture dating back to the Roman Empire.
There are many choices for hiking – which is why we are happy to provide you with a free hiking map through Leukerbad Tourism.
